There are few pop groups that can boast about their longevity and experience. Cash Money recording artists Savvy are the exception. Together for more than seven years, the members of Savvy have already accomplished more than many music veterans twice their collective ages. As stars of their own hit TV series “The Wannabes,” they have garnered fans across the globe. They have wowed audiences at ov
er 400 concerts with their electrifying live show, which showcases their intricate harmonies and infectious dance moves. They have scored popular singles including their Radio Disney hits “Dance With Me Now“ and “SMS (Sing My Song)” and have created 14 music videos. And now Savvy is currently working on their first major label album guided by the Midas touch of Cash Money Records.
Savvy consists of five talented young artists: Shaylen Carroll, Gabrielle “GiGi” LeMaire, Drew Reinartz, Alan Shaw and Andrew Bowen Stern. The group came together in 2004, drawing attention for their dynamic performances as accomplished singers and dancers. Savvy quickly gained traction with the release of their first CD, “Road To Fame,” which won the iParenting Award. Soon after, they kicked off an 8-month national tour, which included headlining Radio Disney’s “Feeling Groovy” mall tour.
As the group gained momentum, it became obvious that Savvy was truly something special and the decision was made to expand their scope into television. “The Wannabes” series was created specifically for Savvy to showcase their musical talents as well as their gifts for acting and comedy. Since then, “The Wannabes” has been a hit in over 90 countries, becoming HBO’s #1 kids series in Latin America and a top 5 program for ABC in Australia.
Savvy’s hot streak continues to sizzle. In addition to their recent association with Cash Money Records, their TV series “The Wannabes” is debuting as the lead show in the live action programming block for Starz Kids & Family in the United States. Each episode of the show features an original music video that has helped fan the flames of Savvy’s popularity as an unstoppable musical force.
It was these music videos that brought Savvy to the attention of Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams, founders and co-CEOs of Cash Money Records. Under their guidance, Savvy is currently in production for their debut major label release.
In addition to being talented artists, Savvy is dedicated to “giving back” and having a positive effect on the world. They are ambassadors for The Orphan Campaign in a worldwide initiative to assist orphans with basic needs. While on tour, Savvy has delivered shoes to orphans in Chile, Mexico and Peru and has performed live events in local orphanages. Among other charitable endeavors, Savvy is also a spokes-group for the U.S. government program Best Bones Forever, which encourages girls to build strong bones at an early age by getting plenty of calcium, vitamin D, and physical activity.
Celebrating their “lucky” seventh year together, it is clear that Savvy’s star is on a meteoric rise.
